This weekend was one of the best I’ve had in a while…

This past weekend was a crazy one! On Friday, I headed to downtown Baltimore to attend Four Hours of Funk…my first ever. I gotta say, it was a great experience. I been to cypher jams before, but this wasn’t just that, it was pure energy! Just everyone dancing and having a good time. Not to mention the dope music being played all night. (Shoutout to DJ Fleg and Franco de Leon) Also after the event, I got to meet BBoy Roland from Battle Born. He is probably THE funniest BBoy ever lol. Such a fun guy to chat with. Saturday was just as great! Went down to John Hopkins University for the BreakOff 5! You can read about a little that went down in my other post HERE. Sunday was TopNotch 2 in DC. Damn it was a hassle to get to this jam. I had planned to go home right after BreakOff so that way I could stop by my friends house early on Sunday to chill, and then make my way to the jam via the metro. But instead I had to wait until Sunday afternoon to leave campus (Because of my mom -__-). I didn’t have time to hang out with my friend, so I just stopped by to give her her birthday presents. But I still didn’t even get to see her because my mom was being difficult and was rushing me -__-. But it was raining all day and all I had on was a pair a shorts, a shirt, and a crewneck….So after I got off the train, I had to walk a couple blocks in the rain to the bus stop, and then I had to wait for the bus! Worst trip to a jam ever! lol But I finally got there, and I gotta say, the venue was SO dope! Much better than last year’s. I got to see my bboy teacher, Toyz, after so long and one of my friends from high school I started dancing with! I was supposed to battle with my friend Ryan but he never showed up so I had to battle alone. I was a little nervous because I haven’t battled in almost a year! But that also meant I was hungry. I just went out and danced and I think I did pretty good! Never EVER felt that good after a battle. One of the judges, BBoy Rival from New Jersey, complimented me after the jam. Confidence = SUPER boosted lol. I didn’t make it to Top 16 but o well, I had fun. The jam was great though. A lot of the people from the jam the day before came through again. Mario and Wealthy were definitely my favorites to win because Wealthy is now one of my most inspirational BBoys, and Mario has always been an inspiration to me. But they ended up coming in 4th. Beast Coast, Tata and Whorah, took 3rd and Kid Glyde and Shorty Brick took 1st, beating out Bulcan Mafia in the finals. Not sure when the next jam is, but I feel like practice really hard so that I can do even better! Can’t wait! :D
